An Airstream caravan in the Welsh countryside

Outdoor life is all about taking in beautiful scenery; and the best thing about glamping is that you don't have to give up all your luxuries, and can still enjoy the rustic feeling of camping. The county of Carmarthenshire showcases some of the most diverse landscapes in Wales; with spectacular mountains; rolling landscape, and sandy beaches. The last thing you would expect in the middle of this stunning Welsh countryside is an American caravan!

The 76er - named after its vintage, is as far removed from its original American roots as you can imagine, but somehow the way it reflects the countryside on its aluminium exterior just works. The enthusiasm for Airstreams has surged in recent times; and now it's not only cool surfers that want them, but there are also millionaire owners such as Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks.

The trailer sleeps two (it has a king sized double bed); and there's still plenty of room inside it for a kitchen; lounge areas; a small dining table, and a sofa. There is even a DVD tv so you can watch movies! There is an adjacent shower room, which has a separate toilet and hot water shower.

The 76er is in a fantastic location in a corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park; and the land adjoins a woodland nature reserve; with deer; badgers; and foxes. If you fancy venturing further afield; then there are several ruined castles in the area; the National Botanic Garden is also nearby, and the ancient town of Llandeilo is only a stroll away.

I love the idea of a retro caravan being plonked in the Welsh countryside. Airstream caravans have become design icons, and to be able to spend a few nights in one when the surrounding area is so beautiful seems very cool!
